Together for almost 15 years, this group is classic American Roots music. They delve into folk, blues, bluegrass and other genres and also perform their own original music.
Entertaining audiences in the tri-state area, most of these musicians play multiple instruments, sing lead as well as back-up harmonies. They all share the love of music and are very audience interactive.
They have just released their 4th CD and are very popular headliners at a host of summer festivals in Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Todd Breck, one of the Group's co-founders, has been around the Wilmington music scene most of his life. In 1962, he opened Wilmington's first coffee house, The Attic, which featured such artists as Peter Tork, Pat Sky and Buffy St. Marie. Little did he know then that John Frink, who joined the Peas in the 90's, performed there in the early 60's.
Other members of the group are long time musicians, playing solo or with other bands. Collectively, they have played or opened for the likes of Jim Croce, Tom Paxton, Bob Gibson, Buffy St. Marie, Len Chandler, John Hartford, Dave Mallett and numerous others.
An evening with the Whirled Peas is uplifting and just fun.
